An iPhone as the screen that does not depend on a desk

The iOS install is deliberately ordinary. The app is fetched the way every other app on the device is fetched, later versions arrive together with the rest of the device's updates, and an iPad signed in to the same Apple ID picks it up without a second search. Nothing has to be switched on for that to keep working, and there is never a question about which build is running.

What a phone contributes to a setup is independence from the rest of it. A chart is checked without a computer being switched on, an account is looked at while away from any desk, and none of that depends on a machine at home being available at that moment. The app is a view of the account rather than a place where the account is kept.

An iPhone and an iPad are two ways into that same account rather than two arrangements to maintain. A chart followed on the phone during the local mid-morning European session can be opened with more room on the tablet in the afternoon, and a handset that is replaced or handed on takes nothing with it, because nothing that matters was stored on the hardware.
