Choosing between a desktop install and the browser on macOS
The desktop route suits a Mac that is used mainly by one person. MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 both run on macOS, they keep the chart layout that was set up, and they carry the full set of terminal features rather than a reduced one. The cost is disk space and an application that has to be maintained.
The browser route suits the opposite case. On a Mac shared between family members, or one whose storage is already tight, opening the platform from the Personal Area avoids adding software to a machine other people rely on, and closing the tab leaves the computer exactly as it was found.
Neither choice locks anything in. The account is the same one in both places, so a session started in a browser during the local afternoon can continue in the desktop terminal later, and a Mac that runs out of room can drop back to the browser without anything having to be set up again.
